After being carefully selected by Mimi Herman, award winning author, Elisa Pasotti read her selected poem in front of a crowd at this event among a few other young writers. The poem that she read was about a German immigrant to America in the early 1900s. It follows her and her feelings through the whole journey to the Land of Opportunity. This piece draws from the author’s personal experiences and feelings, as she grew up very much bicultural, preserving her Italian roots and embracing her American citizenship.
